Introduction:

The Rural Science Institute (RSI), a name developed in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, in the early 1970s, serves as an umbrella for a number of independent cultural enterprises, largely articles, books, and public programs. Along with the Famous Long Ago archive (FLA), a repository of the history of the farm group, and Blue Rider Exhibitions (BRE), which focuses on curatorial work and writing in the arts, it completes a trio of interrelated forums intended to facilitate efforts in the areas of culture, history and the arts.
